COVID-19: 7,105 new cases and 71 deaths today, active cases now over 80,000

Malaysia has recorded 7,105 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 579,462. There are 71 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 2,867.

The Ministry of Health has reported 6,083 new recoveries and a total of 496,121 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 85.62% while the mortality rate is at 0.49%.

There are currently 80,474 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 872 are in ICU while 419 require respiratory support.

Out of the 7,105 new cases today, 2 are imported while 7,103 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 2,068 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 817 cases, Sarawak with 703 cases and Kelantan with 531 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 27 new clusters today and 13 of them are workplace-related. Below is the list of newly identified clusters:
