Astro Movies Pack customers struggle to activate Disney+ Hotstar account

Disney+ Hotstar starts streaming in Malaysia today and if you’re an Astro Movies Pack customer, the service is included in your subscription package. Before you can start watching, you’ll need to activate the Disney+ Hotstar account by linking your phone number to your Astro ID. Unfortunately, Astro customers are still struggling to do so as Astro’s website is still experiencing high traffic since the activation page is open at 12pm.

To recap, Astro Movies Pack now costs RM5 extra per month as all customers are entitled to enjoy Disney+ Hotstar on their current subscription. To enjoy the new streaming platform without paying the standard RM54.90 for 3 months subscription, you’ll need to activate it on Astro’s website here.

You must have an Astro ID to activate your account. If you don’t have one, you can create one here and it will require you to enter your IC and smartcard number. You can find the smartcard number in your monthly bill.

To activate Disney+ Hotstar under your Astro account, just activate here with your Astro ID and provide your mobile number. Once that’s done, you can immediately login with your phone number on the Disney+ Hotstar app which is available on both Apple AppStore and Google PlayStore. There’s no password and the platform will verify your login by sending a 4-digit code via SMS.

Take note that Disney+ Hotstar isn’t available on the Astro Ultra or Ulti box just yet, so you’ll need to watch it on your smartphone, tablet, computer or on a Smart TV with Android TV or Apple TV. Each account can support 2 concurrent streams and the content is commercial-free.
