COVID-19: Record-high 7,289 new cases and 60 deaths today, active cases now over 63,000

Malaysia has recorded 7,289 new COVID-19 cases today which is a new record high and it brings the total number of infections to 525,889. There are 60 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 2,369.

The Ministry of Health has reported 3,789 new recoveries and a total of 460,062 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate has dipped to 87.48% while the mortality rate is now at 0.45%.

There are currently 63,458 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 726 are in ICU while 373 require respiratory support.

Out of the 7,289 new cases today, 4 are imported while 7,285 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 2,642 cases, followed by Johor with 664 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 604 cases and Sarawak with 513 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 15 new clusters today and 10 are workplace related. Below is the list of newly identified clusters:
