[UPDATE]AstraZeneca Round 2 open to people below 60 soon? Khairy to make an announcement tomorrow

Round 2 of the AstraZeneca vaccine opt-in programme had started yesterday at 12pm and eligible individuals can pick a slot between 6th June until 27th July 2021. This time, there are over 1.2 million doses up for grabs but it is open only to senior citizens aged 60 years old and above. If you’re under 60 and want to book the vaccine, it appears that you might be able to secure your slot very soon.

Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin is expected to make an announcement tomorrow at 11am to provide an update on the opt-in programme. It is said that the programme will be extended to all eligible adults aged 18 years old and above.

According to Oriental Daily, they have received a tip that the AstraZeneca Round 2 opt-in program will be offered to adults below 60 years old from 6pm tomorrow, 25th May 2021. However, it will still be limited to the 8 vaccination centres located in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pulau Pinang, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Miri.

Round 2 of the AstraZeneca booking is available on the official website at vaksincovid.gov.my. You can book your slot on the AstraZeneca page.

As of 5pm today, there are still a lot of slots available. In the Klang Valley, you can still book as early 9th June at WTC. In Sarawak, the earliest slot available is 10th June for both Kuching and Miri vaccination centres. Meanwhile, in both Penang and Johor, the next available slot is 15th June.

To reach out to more senior citizens, the vaccine bookings are available through community clinic outreach and they will also be extended to elderly care homes. Youths are also encouraged to help their parents and elderly family members to book their AstraZeneca vaccine slots.
