COVID-19: Record-high 47 deaths today, 272 deaths recorded in Malaysia in one week

Malaysia has recorded 4,865 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 479,421. There are 47 new deaths reported which is a new record high and the death toll is now 1,994.

The Ministry of Health has reported 3,497 new recoveries and a total of 432,600 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 90.23% while the mortality rate is at 0.42%.

There are currently 44,827 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 531 are in ICU while 277 require respiratory support.

Out of the 4,865 new cases today, 5 are imported while 4,860 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,743 cases, followed by Sarawak with 512 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 477 cases and Johor with 407 cases.
