COVID-19: New cases jump to 4,855 today, highest since 1st Feb 2021

Malaysia has recorded 4,855 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 458,077. This is the highest number of new cases reported in a single day since 1st February 2021.

There are 27 new deaths reported today, which brings the death toll to 1,788. A total of 3,347 new recoveries have been recorded today and a total of 414,707 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 90.5% while the mortality rate is at 0.39%.

There are currently 41,582 active cases at the moment. 481 are in ICU while 247 require respiratory support.

Out of the 4,855 cases reported today, 3 are imported while 4,852 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,783 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 521 cases, Johor with 467 cases, while both Sarawak and Pulau Pinang record 395 cases each.

A total of 8 new clusters have been recorded today and they are mostly workplace related. Below is the full list:
