COVID-19: 3,973 new cases and 22 deaths today, total active cases now over 38,000

Malaysia has recorded 3,973 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 448,457. There are 22 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,722.

The Ministry of Health has reported 2,848 new recoveries and a total of 408,236 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 91.03% while the mortality rate is at 0.38%.

There are currently 38,499 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 453 are in ICU while 224 require respiratory support.

Out of the 3,973 new cases today, 5 are imported while 3,968 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,328 cases, followed by Sarawak with 512 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 483 cases and Johor with 384 cases.
