COVID-19: 3,120 new cases and 23 deaths today, total active cases risen to 31,516

Malaysia has recorded 31,516 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 420,632. There are 23 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,574. This is the highest number of deaths recorded in a day since 19th February 2021.

The Ministry of Health has reported 2,334 new recoveries and a total of 387,542 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 92.14% while the mortality rate remains at 0.37%.

There are currently 31,516 active cases remaining that are receiving treatment. 338 are in ICU while 181 require respiratory support.

Out of the 3,120 new cases today, 6 are imported while 3,114 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 675 cases, followed by Sarawak with 620 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 408 cases, Johor with 336 cases and Kelantan with 296 cases.
