In conjunction with Shopee’s 5.5 Raya sale, Samsung Malaysia is launching its new Galaxy M12. This is Samsung’s new budget smartphone and you get it with a hefty 25% discount.

Pricing and availability

According to the Shopee ad, the Samsung Galaxy M12 is officially priced at RM799 but you can get it for only RM599 on the 5th of May. The device can be purchased via the official Samsung Malaysia official store on Shopee.

Samsung has tweeted that the RM599 promo is limited to the first 1,000 units.

Hardware Specs

Based on the promo image and battery capacity, it looks like Malaysia is getting the UK-spec Galaxy M12 which comes with a 5,000mAh battery. As a comparison, the India version gets a larger 6,000mAh battery and it comes with a dual-tone texture back design.

The Galaxy M12 features a 6.5″ HD+ TFT display that pushes a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it runs on an entry-level 8nm Exynos 850 processor that’s mated to 4GB of RAM and it has 64GB of internal storage. If you need more, storage can be expanded via microSD card up to 1TB.

In the camera department, the M12 gets a quad-camera setup at the rear which consists of a 48MP main camera, 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera and two 2MP shooters for depth and macro. Upfront, the V-shaped notch houses an 8MP selfie shooter.

The Samsung Galaxy M12 gets a 5,000mAh battery which supports 15W fast-charging via USB-C. The device still retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
