The Lego Super Mario universe finally lets Luigi have his spot in the limelight

It’s about time Luigi basked in the limelight in the Lego Super Mario universe. The Lego Group has announced that the green-clad plumber brother will have his own Adventures with Luigi Starter Course set.

The Luigi Starter Course is an extension of the already huge line of Lego Super Mario products. The course includes the Bluetooth-enabled Luigi with a colour sensor and LCD screen that interacts with pieces of the sets—much like the Mario Starter Course.

The full range of sets so far include character packs, power-up packs, and bigger ones like the Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set. You will be able to play the new Bluetooth Luigi with the older sets if you already have them.

“Everybody loves Luigi! With his unique personality, green cap and distinctive moustache, he has been highly requested by fans all over the world, and we are thrilled to welcome him to this interactive playset that is really changing the way people engage with Super Mario and LEGO play,” said Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer of the Lego Group.

The Luigi Starter Course will also include a new Pink Yoshi, a seesaw challenge, a Boom Boom and a Bone Goomba—which might seem like just made up words to people who are unfamiliar with the Mario universe, but Nintendo fans would get a kick out of these.

The 280-piece Adventures with Luigi Starter Course will launch for general sale globally from 1 August 2021 for RM259.90. It is available for pre-order now.

If you want to have a closer look at what the Super Mario starter course looks like, you can watch our special Santap video where a bunch of us try to build the set—with a fun twist. Split into two teams of two, one person in the team reads the instructions, and the other person builds it.
