Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra crowned the best smartphone camera on DxOMark Mobile

Xiaomi has just announced the Mi 11 Ultra, their ultimate flagship smartphone that features a large 50MP 1/1.12″ Samsung GN2 ISOCELL image sensor. During the launch event, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has revealed that the Mi 11 Ultra was given a new high score of 143 points on DxOMark Mobile.

At 143 points, it is 10 points higher than its predecessor, the Mi 10 Ultra. Compared to its competitors, the new flagship gets 4 points more than the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+ and 7 points higher than the Mate 40 Pro.

Looking at the breakdown, the Mi 11 Ultra was given a score of 148 points for photo and 100 points for zoom. In the video department, it scored 117 points. Despite awarding the scores for the Mi 11 Ultra, DxOMark says they are still working on the full review which will be published on their website very soon.

To recap on the camera specs, the Mi 11 Ultra gets a triple-camera setup which consists of a 50MP f/1.95 main camera, a 48MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 48MP f/4.1 periscope telephoto camera that offers up to 120X digital zoom. Both ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras use a 1/2″ image sensor.

The new 1/1.12″ Samsung GN2 ISOCELL image sensor is one of the largest ever fitted on a smartphone and Xiaomi claims that it is comparable with a Sony RX100 M7 camera that comes with a 1.0″ sensor. Another nice addition is a tiny secondary display at the rear which can be used for selfies and to display notification.

The Mi 11 Ultra runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with support for 5G bands. In China, the Mi 11 Ultra is priced as follows:

Mi 11 Ultra
8GB RAM + 256GB storage – CNY 5,999 (about RM3,788)
12GB RAM + 256GB storage – CNY 6,499 (about RM4,104)
12GB RAM + 512GB storage – CNY 6,999 (about RM4,420)
