Yes Kasi Up offers 40GB free data to all B40 users

When Malaysia was initially placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO) a year ago, Yes had provided free SIM cards with 40GB of data to help students continue with their studies online. Now, the telco under YTL Communications has announced a new Yes Kasi Up B40 initiative which will provide 40GB of free data to every registered member of the B40 community.

To apply, the B40 user would only need to provide their contact details on the Kasi Up B40 page or via the MyYes app (Apple App Store, Google Play Store). You can also check if you’re eligible by entering your IC number here.

For new customers, the Yes SIM will be delivered directly to their homes and they can activate the SIM via the Yes app. Take note that the 40GB of free data is only valid for 60 days.

Introducing the new initiative, YTL Communications Managing Director Dato Yeok Seok Hong said “One year on, we are extending this free data initiative to all rakyat B40. With markets reopening, and the rakyat feeling the pressure of job losses, income deprivation, and a slowdown in business activities, it is important that we continue to play our part to close the digital divide. Data accessibility is the game changer; every Malaysian must be able to access high-speed internet to learn, work, grow a business and shop for their everyday essentials. It is the only way to ensure Malaysia reaches its full potential. This is the democratization of data — the essence of what YES Kasi Up is all about.”

In case you missed it, Yes had introduced its Kasi Up prepaid and postpaid plans in December 2020 which offers more data at a lower monthly commitment. Subscribers can get 10GB of data for RM15/month or 20GB of data for RM20/month on prepaid, while its RM49/month postpaid plan offers a whopping 100GB of data.

The telco had also partnered with Shopee to offer 5GB databack for every RM50 spent on the eCommerce platform. This allows Shopee customers to redeem up to 100GB databack each month. To get started, Yes is also offering its Kasi Up Prepaid 15 SIM pack for only RM1.

Yes runs on a pure 4G network and it offers Voice over LTE (VoLTE). That also means there’s no 3G network to fall back to if you’re out of its 4G coverage areas. Yes’ 4G network is running on TD-LTE (Band 40) 2300MHz and (Band 38) 2600MHz, and you can check if your phone is compatible here.
