Poco F3 Malaysia: 120Hz AMOLED and Snapdragon 870 with 5G, priced from RM1,299

When Pocophone F1 was introduced in 2018, it was an impressive phone that offered a flagship-class processor for less than RM1,500. Now it appears that Poco is continuing that tradition with its new Poco F3 5G. It gets a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip and it even supports 5G.

Pricing and availability

Here’s the official Poco F3 5G pricing in Malaysia:

Poco F3 5G
6GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM1,399
8GB RAM + 256GB storage – RM1,699

The device is offered in 3 colours – Arctic White, Night Black and Deep Ocean Blue.

During its upcoming flash sale on 27th March in conjunction with Lazada’s 9th birthday, the Poco F3 5G 6GB RAM + 128GB storage can be yours for RM1,299, while the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version is priced at RM1,499. The sale is happening on the Poco official global store.

Hardware Specs

Essentially, the Poco F3 5G is a rebadge of the Redmi K40 that’s sold in China. Upfront it gets a 6.67″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that pushes a 120Hz refresh rate and a high 360Hz touch sampling rate. The display is HDR10+ certified with rated peak brightness of 1300 nits and has a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

Under the hood, it runs on a 7nm Snapdragon 870 5G SoC which comes with LiquidCool Technology 1.0 Plus. The device is configured with up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage which isn’t expandable.

In the photography department, the device gets a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 5MP telemacro lens. The device also gets a 20MP selfie camera that sits in a tiny punch-hole on the display.

Like most new smartphones, it also gets dual speakers for stereo playback but it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. Also included is support for Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 6 and an IR blaster. For 5G connectivity, the device also gets a Snapdragon X55 5G modem.

Powering the F3 is a 4,520mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging via USB-C. Also included is a 33W in-box charger and Xiaomi claims that you can get a full charge in just 52 minutes. The device runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12 for Poco skin on top.
