Insta360 Go 2: The world’s smallest action camera is here, and it weighs less than 30 grams

Insta360 has just taken the covers off the Go 2, which the company is calling the “world’s smallest action camera”. And at just 26.5g, the company’s latest action camera is certainly one of the smallest cameras I’ve personally seen, although Insta360 has equipped this with some impressive features and hardware. For some context, this is the second generation of the firm’s Go camera series, and it’s worth noting that this lineup consists of the only models from Insta360 that aren’t 360-degree cameras.

In any case, the Go 2 now comes with an improved charging case, a larger sensor, and improved image and video quality, and as with its predecessor, you’ll be able to mount it onto most surfaces. This is made possible by various included accessories, as well as a built-in magnet on the camera itself—so you’ll be able to attach it onto yourself, a grip, or even an obliging pet (do so at your own risk however).

In any case, you get a 1/2.3″ image sensor which captures a maximum resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 50fps, and the Go 2 also has a 120-degree field of view to offer a wide view of your surroundings. Meanwhile, Insta360 also talks up its FlowState Stabilisation technology, which basically uses a 6-axis stabiliser to adjust for shakes via “horizon levelling algorithms”. Unfortunately, if you’re looking for 4K resolution video, the Insta360 Go 2 isn’t really the camera for you.

As mentioned earlier, one of the more significant improvements here is the charging case—which now doubles up as a tripod, remote, and external power bank, all in one. You can charge it via USB-C, and the camera can run for 30 minutes on a single charge, or 150 minutes while in the case. The Go 2 is also rated at IPX8 for water resistance, although the charging case is not. However, it makes up for it with an informative display within the case which will keep you up to date with the Go 2’s battery life, storage space, and settings.

Keep in mind that the Go 2 doesn’t have a viewfinder on the camera, although you’ll be able to use the Go 2 mobile app for real-time previews. To do that, you’ll need to install the app on your iPhone or Android smartphone, and connect to the same WiFi network that the camera is connected to. Plus, the app has a built-in editing feature—although you’d probably be better off with a third-party, dedicated video editing app. Still, it’s nice that the option is there.

Other things you can look forward to include a slow-mo mode that shoots at 120fps (1920×1080 pixels), while HDR is also supported. Photos are captured in the company’s INSP format or DNG, while videos are captured in the conventional MP4 format. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage, and there are four versions/packages you can choose from. Pricing in the U.S. is as follows:

Insta360 Go 2 (Standalone) – USD 319.99 (~RM1,315)
Insta360 Go 2 (Selfie Stick Kit) – USD 339 (~RM1,394)
Insta360 Go 2 (Lens Guard Kit) – USD 331 (~RM1,361)
Insta 360 Go 2 (Pet Mount Kit) – USD 331 (~RM1,361)

For now, we don’t have any official word if or when the Insta360 Go 2 is coming to Malaysia. As always, however, keep SoyaCincau.com bookmarked on your browser, and we’ll keep you updated with the latest developments.
