The OnePlus 9 series is launching very soon and it is expected to offer huge improvements in photography. It has recently announced a 3-year collaboration with Swedish camera manufacturer, Hasselblad.
Apple and Samsung have recently started ditching the power adapter from the box in an effort to reduce electronic waste. Xiaomi has also followed suit during the launch of the Mi 11 in China but consumers were given the option to get the charger separately for free if required. Fortunately, all global units of the Xiaomi Mi 11 including the Malaysian market are shipped with a 55W GaN charger in the box.
So what’s OnePlus stand on the power adapter issue? Responding to comments in the OnePlus forum, CEO Pete Lau told the community not to worry about the charger. He assured that OnePlus will still provide a charger in the box for the upcoming OnePlus 9 series.
It is likely that OnePlus will retain its Warp Charge 65 power adapter that can push 65W (6.5A 10V) power output via a USB-C port. When plugged-in with the OnePlus 8T, the power adapter is rated to push 58% charge in just 15 minutes and it takes 39 minutes for a full charge.
The power adapter also supports USB Power Delivery standards up to 45W. This can be used to charge a variety of USB-PD devices including compatible laptops, phones and tablets.
The OnePlus 9 series is expected to run on a Snapdragon 888 processor and the launch event is scheduled to take place on 23rd March at 10:00pm Malaysian time. For the top-of-the-line OnePlus 9 Pro model, the device is expected to feature a 6.78″ Quad HD+ 120Hz display and it will feature a new camera system that’s co-developed with Hasselblad.
