Latest fuel price: RON95 petrol hits maximum price cap of RM2.05/litre, RON97 at RM2.35/litre

Malaysians will have to pay more for petrol for the coming week as both RON95 and RON97 fuel are up by 5 sen per litre. The new price for RON95 has hit the maximum price cap of RM2.05/litre and this is the highest since the start of the MCO in March 2020.

Below are the fuel prices for the period between 27 February to 3 March 2021:

RON95 – RM2.05/litre (+5 sen)
RON97 – RM2.35/litre (+5 sen)
Diesel – RM2.15/litre (unchanged)
Diesel (Euro 5) – RM2.25/litre (unchanged)

The price of fuel in Malaysia is calculated based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM). According to the Ministry of Finance, the adjustments in fuel prices reflect the changes in the pricing of refined oil products in line with the current global crude oil prices.

The maximum price of RM2.05/litre for RON95 petrol and RM2.15/litre for diesel was introduced earlier this month by Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz. This was lower than the previous set ceiling price of RM2.08/litre for RON95 and RM2.18/litre for diesel.
