Purported Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra revealed with huge camera bump and a secondary screen

Shortly after the Xiaomi Mi 11 was introduced for the global market, it appears that a more premium Mi 11 Ultra is going to be released very soon. The purported new flagship device which boasts a better camera array has been revealed early on Tech Buff PH YouTube channel.

As shown above, the purported Mi 11 Ultra comes with a massive camera bump that protrudes out like a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and it is almost as wide as the entire width. It has a triple-camera setup which is said to consists of a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 48MP periscope telephoto lens that boasts 120X zoom. As a comparison, the standard Mi 11 lacks a telephoto camera and you’re stuck with a 108MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide angle shooter and a 5MP telemacro camera.

The video showed two different Mi 11 Ultra units. The black option has a label that says “12-120mm 1:1.95-4.1 AI Camera” while the white phone just has “Ultra Pixel AI camera” printed at the back. If the focal length figures are true, the periscope module is likely to offer 10x optical zoom.

The biggest highlight is a tiny vertical screen that sits on the right side of the bump. This could be used to frame your shot when you’re taking a selfie or vlogging with the rear camera.

In terms of specs, the YouTuber said that it features a 6.8″ quad-curved OLED display with WQHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, which sounds similar to the current Mi 11. The display also gets a 20MP punch-hole camera on the top left corner. Just like the Mi 11, it still runs on a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888 processor but it gets a larger 5,000mAh battery.

Interestingly, the Mi 11 Ultra is said to be able to support a higher 67W fast wired and wireless charging. This probably explains the recent certification of a 67W Xiaomi GaN charger. Other flagship features include IP68 dust and water resistance and the use of Gorilla Glass Victus.

We can’t confirm if this device is legit but it does look like a convincing prototype since it can boot with MIUI 12.5. The shown device design also carries over similar design elements from the current Mi 11 like its side metal frame and the top edge which has “Sound by Harman Kardon” printed next to the speaker grill.

At the time of writing, Tech Buff PH has set the hands-on video to private but a copy of it has been reuploaded on another channel. You can check out the 10-minute hands-on video of the Mi 11 Ultra below:
