Unifi VP and Head of Marketing Lai Shu Wei resigns

Lai Shu Wei, the Vice President and Head of Marketing of Unifi is reported to be leaving Telekom Malaysia (TM) at the end of March 2021. He has held the role since 2017 after Webe was transformed into Unifi Mobile.

According to a statement released to A+M, Shu Wei said “I am very happy to have been part of this journey and TM is a fantastic organisation. It’s time for me to move on but I’ll always miss the great people.” Prior to this, he was the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Webe Digital, a digital mobile brand that was introduced following TM’s acquisition of P1.

He was also the CMO at Packet One Networks and has held various roles at Maxis, Lam Soon, Johnson & Johnson and Nestle. Shu Wei was also awarded the Chief Marketing Officer of the Year at the Malaysian CMO Awards 2019. According to A+M, TM has declined to comment on his replacement.

Earlier this week, the telecommunications giant has revealed the appointment of Shanti Jusnita Johari as their new CMO. This is TM’s first CMO in 7 years since Dato Rozalila Abdul Rahman left the company in 2014. Shanti Jusnita was the former Chief Customer Service and Experience Officer at Celcom and she had also worked at Maxis as the Head of Core Convergence and as the Vice President of Marketing.
