Xiaomi Mi 11 global launch is happening on 8th February

The Xiaomi Mi 11 with a Snapdragon 888 processor will be announced for international markets very soon. The smartphone maker has just revealed its global launch that’s scheduled at 8.00pm on 8th February 2021.

To watch the event live, you can tune in to their live stream which will be available on their official Facebook and YouTube channel. So far there are no details yet about its availability in Malaysia but we’ll soon find out in 9 days.

To recap, the Mi 11 was launched in China last month and it features a 6.81″ ‘quad-curve’ AMOLED display that pushes a Quad HD+ resolution of 3200×1440 pixels. On top of that, the display also pushes a high 120Hz refresh rate and an ultra-high touch sampling rate of 480Hz.

The screen supports HDR10+ and it boasts a high contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and peak brightness of 1500 nits. In addition, the Mi 11 also gets an in-display fingerprint sensor which can be used for heart-rate monitoring.

Under the hood, it runs on the latest 5nm Snapdragon 888 chip that can be configured with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Similar to its predecessor, you also get a pair of stereo speakers and it’s tuned by Harman Kardon.

For taking photos, the Mi 11 gets a triple-camera setup at the rear. This include a 108MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5MP macro shooter. There’s no telephoto camera for zooming but the device is capable of shooting 8K videos up to 30fps. For selfies, it gets a 20MP front camera that sits in a tiny punch-hole.

Powering the device is a 4,600mAh battery which supports 55W fast charging via USB-C. It also supports wireless charging up to 50W and reverse wireless charge at 10W.

In China, the Mi 11 is priced from CNY 3,999 (about RM2,507) for the base 8GB RAM + 128GB model and it goes all the way up to CNY 4,699 (about RM2,946) for the top-spec 12GB RAM + 256GB storage version.

Despite being added to a blacklist in the US, Xiaomi assures that its new devices will continue to come with Google Mobile Services which includes the Google Play Store. In terms of packaging, Xiaomi is also adopting a flat box design that doesn’t come with a power adapter. In China, buyers are given the option to pick up the Mi 11 with a free 55W GaN charger worth CNY 99 (about RM62).
