COVID-19: New record high with 5,728 new cases reported today

Malaysia has recorded 5,728 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 209,661. Today marks another new record high beating yesterday’s 5,725 cases. There are 13 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 746.

The Ministry of Health has reported 3,805 new recoveries and a total of 161,527 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 77.04% while the mortality rate is now 0.36%.

There are currently 47,388 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 319 are in ICU while 120 require respiratory support.

Out of the 5,728 new cases today, 5 are imported while 5,723 are transmitted locally. Selangor continues to record the most with 3,285 new cases, followed by Johor with 792 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 480 cases and Sabah with 263 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 16 new clusters and 13 of them are workplace related. Below is the full list:

A total of 97 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Tanjung Suria cluster reported the most with 567 cases, followed by Jalan Harapan prison cluster with 103 cases and Pasar cluster with 96 cases.
