GoCar: New Xpander, City, Almera and X50 now available for subscription from RM1,799/month

Car subscription platform, GoCar Subs, has finally revealed its subscription plans for the new Mitsubishi Xpander, Proton X50, Honda City and Nissan Almera. All four vehicles are offered with the same monthly subscription rate which starts from as low as RM1,799.

The new vehicles fall under GoCar’s ‘Executive’ category and below are the monthly subscription amount according to the respective the contract period:

12 months – RM2,199/month
24 months – RM1,999/month
36 months – RM1,799/month

The monthly subscription fee includes road tax and insurance, scheduled service plus wear and tear, 24/7 roadside assistance and door-to-door service. GoCar subscription is available to residents in the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Bahru. However, the door-to-door service is currently only available in the Klang Valley.

Normally, the GoCar subscription plans come with 1,650km of monthly mileage (19,800km per year) but now they are offering a free mileage upgrade to 2,500km per month (30,000km per year). If you need to drive longer distances, there’s an unlimited option which costs an extra RM800/month.

According to GoCar, the subscription plans offer lower total costs in the first year when compared to a typical hire purchase ownership. The above table is their comparison of a 36-month subscription plan versus a typical 5-year car loan. Unlike a car loan, you won’t need to fork out the usual 10% down payment for the subscription plan, however, you’ll need to pay 2 months subscription fee as security deposit which is refundable.

Another key highlight for GoCar Subs is the ability to swap cars mid-way during your subscription contract. According to GoCar, customers can swap two times per year and there’s a one-time swapping fee of RM250.

This enables you to subscribe to a Proton X50 and later on, you could switch to a Mitsubishi Xpander if you need a 7-seater vehicle. You could also swap to vehicles from a different category but your monthly fee and deposit would be adjusted accordingly.

Apart from the Proton X50, Mitsubishi Xpander, Nissan Almera and Honda City, other vehicles under the ‘Executive’ category also include the Honda Civic, Toyota Camry 2.5 Hybrid, Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V and the Honda Accord. For more info, you can check out GoCar Subs’ website.

If you’re looking to rent a car for short-term use, GoCar Subs is offering 50% off for its 30-day subscription plan for selected models. You can rent a Nissan Sylphy for RM949/month, a Mazda CX-5 or Honda Accord for RM1,299/month. This promo is available on its official store on Shopee.
