Malaysia has recorded 4,008 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 169,379. This is the second time Malaysia records over 4,000 cases in a single day. There are 11 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 630.
The Ministry of Health has reported 2,374 new recoveries and a total of 127,662 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 75.4% while the mortality rate is 0.4%.
There are currently 41,087 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 246 are in ICU while 96 require respiratory support.
Out of the 4,008 new cases today, 5 are imported while 4,003 are transmitted locally. Among the local cases, 2,802 are Malaysians (70%) while 1,201 are foreigners (30%).
Selangor recorded the most with 1,391 new COVID-19 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 513 cases, Johor with 470 cases, Sabah with 406 cases. and Sarawak with 203 cases.
According to the Ministry of Health, there are a total of 16 new clusters identified today and 11 of them are workplace related clusters. Below is the list of new clusters:
A total of 84 clusters have recorded new cases today. The Bina Muda construction site cluster recorded the most with 237 cases, followed by Jalan Zuhrah construction site cluster with 175 cases and Pasai cluster with 139 new cases.
