Oppo Reno 5

The standard Reno 5 looks like a rebadged OnePlus Nord but it comes with a couple of upgrades. Upfront, it features a 6.4″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that pushes a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 750 nits. Powering the device is a 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with 8GB of RAM and it has 128GB of storage which isn’t expandable.

For taking pictures, the Reno 5 gets a quad-camera setup which features a high resolution 64MP f/1.7 main camera and an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera. Accompanying the camera setup are two 2MP cameras for depth and macro effects. Upfront, the tiny punch-hole houses a single 32MP selfie camera.

Among its headlining camera features is AI Highlight Video for video recording at night and Dual-View video which allows you to record a video using both front and rear cameras at the same time.

Powering the device is a decent 4,300mAh battery and it supports Oppo’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging via USB-C. Oppo claims that you can charge from 0-60% in just 15 minutes and a full charge from zero will take about 35 minutes. The device still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and it supports both 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 5.1.

Oppo Reno 5 Pro

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G may look the similar as the standard version from the rear but it offers a couple of extras. Upfront, the dual-curved AMOLED screen is slightly bigger at 6.5″ and it also pushes Full HD+ resolution with a high 90Hz refresh rate. The display also offers a higher peak brightness of 1100 nits.

The Pro model runs on a 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chip which is seen as MediaTek’s flagship answer to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chip. The device is configured with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage which isn’t expandable.

In the camera department, it appears to retain the same camera setup and features as the standard Reno. You get a quad-camera array at the rear with a 64MP main, 8MP ultra-wide-angle and two 2MP cameras for depth and macro. Upfront, it still gets a single 32MP camera for selfies.

Keeping the lights on is a slightly larger 4,350mAh battery which also supports Oppo’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging via USB-C. Despite having a slightly bigger battery, Oppo says it would only take 30 minutes for a full charge. Unfortunately, the device doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Since this is the flagship model of the series, the device supports the latest 802.11ax WiFi 6 as well as Bluetooth 5.1. Both the Oppo Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro 5G run on ColorOS 11.1 that’s based on Android 11.
