Zahidi Zainul tests positive for COVID-19 after returning from Penang

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin has been tested positive for COVID-19. He revealed this on his Facebook page and an official statement has been issued by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia.

According to the post, the Deputy Minister had taken a COVID-19 test on Monday, 11th January 2021 after returning to Kuala Lumpur from Penang. He received the test results this morning and it was positive. It is reported that the Deputy Minister’s condition is currently stable and he has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Zahidi Zainul has been sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for further treatment in line with the stipulated guidelines by the Ministry of Health. He was previously tested on 25th December and the results had returned negative.

Prior to this, several cabinet ministers have recently tested positive for COVID-19. This include PM Department Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Woman, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
