Samsung Malaysia has introduced two new budget smartphones for the Galaxy A series that offer a 6.5″ display and a large 5,000mAh battery. Both devices are now available and are priced under RM800.

Pricing and availability

Below is the official pricing in Malaysia:

Samsung Galaxy A12 6GB + 128GB – RM799
Samsung Galaxy A02s 4GB + 64GB – RM529

Both model will be available at participating Samsung Experience Store, authorised dealers and on their eStore. The devices are offered in Black and Blue.

Galaxy A12

The Samsung Galaxy A12 features a 6.5″ HD+ TFT display that pushes a resolution of 1600×720 pixels. Powering the device is a MediaTek Helio P35 processor that’s mated to 6GB of RAM. It has 128GB of onboard storage which can be expanded via microSD card.

For taking pictures, the A12 gets a quad-camera setup that consists of a 48MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens and two 2MP cameras for depth and macro. For selfies, the tiny notch on the display houses an 8MP front camera.

Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 15W fast charging via USB-C. The device still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and it supports 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with NFC support.

Galaxy A02s

The Galaxy A02s is a cheaper alternative that also comes with a 6.5″ HD+ display and a 5,000mAh battery. Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor with 4GB of RAM. Onboard, it has 64GB of storage which can be expanded via microSD card.

It terms of cameras, it is a step below the A12 as it gets a more basic triple-camera setup. It has a 13MP main camera and two 2MP shooters for depth and macro. Over at the front, it gets a 5MP selfie camera that sits in a tiny notch.

Keeping the lights on is the same generous 5,000mAh battery and it also supports 15W fast charging via USB-C. It supports 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2 and it still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
