Save 2.0: How to claim RM200 voucher for energy-efficient home appliances via Shopee

Planning to buy a new air-conditioner or fridge for your home? You can save RM200 by claiming your eRebate under the Program Save 2.0. This is applicable for new appliances with a minimum of 4-star energy efficient rating by the Energy Commission.

The Program Save 2.0 RM200 rebate was announced during the tabling of Budget 2021 to encourage the usage of energy efficient home appliances. The government has allocated a budget of RM30 million which it aims to benefit 140,000 households in Malaysia.

The program which is implemented by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) has collaborated with eCommerce platform, Shopee to disburse the RM200 eRebate as a voucher. The program is applicable to all domestic users under Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB). According to the Shopee page, the RM200 eRebate vouchers are given on a first come, first serve basis and each account holder can only claim once.

To ensure equal distribution throughout Malaysia, it mentions that the eRebate has a fixed quota for Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak users while taking into consideration that residents in larger cities have a higher spending power compared to rural towns. Unfortunately, there’s no actual breakdown given for the distribution.

Interestingly, if you do the math, the budget of RM30 million should be able to provide RM200 eRebate for 150,000 account holders, which is more than the announced 140,000 households during the budget.

How to claim the Save 2.0 eRebate?

To redeem the RM200 voucher, you’ll need to register using the Shopee App (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) by scanning the QR code above. Alternatively, you can visit the Save 2.0 page and click on “Daftar Sekarang”.

You’ll need to provide your electricity bill number, Malaysian IC number, Full Name (as per IC) and also your status/relationship with the account holder if you’re not the owner of the premise. After submitting the application, you’ll be informed about the status within 14 working days. Once approved, you will receive a RM200 voucher in your Shopee Wallet to purchase your energy efficient air-conditioner or fridge.
