COVID-19: New record high with 2,525 cases today, 1,205 in Selangor

Malaysia has recorded 2,525 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 113,010. There are 8 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 471.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,481 new recoveries and a total of 88,941 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 78.7% while the mortality rate is now 0.42%.



There are currently 23,598 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 131 are in ICU while 60 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,525 new cases today, 13 are imported while 2,512 are transmitted locally. Selangor reported the most with 1,205 new cases, followed by Sabah with 299 cases, Melaka with 239 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 222 cases and Johor with 194 cases.



A total of 5 new COVID-19 clusters have been identified today. This include Jalan Galah cluster in Selangor, Jalan Datuk cluster which covers Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Kampung Baharu cluster in Johor, Perkeliling cluster in Johor and Jalan Rasah cluster which covers Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya.

A total of 49 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Seruling cluster reported the most with 371 new cases, followed by Jalan Harapan prison cluster with 285 new cases and Teratai cluster with 151 new cases.
