Latest fuel price: RON95 petrol at RM1.80/litre, RON97 at RM2.10/litre

Malaysians will have to pay more for petrol and diesel for the coming week as the price per litre is up by 2 sen per litre across the board. This is the 7th straight week of price increase since 7th November 2020.

Below are the fuel prices for the period between 26th December 2020 to 1st January 2021:

RON95 – RM1.80/litre (+2 sen)
RON97 – RM2.10/litre (+2 sen)
Diesel – RM1.98/litre (+2 sen)
Diesel (Euro 5) – RM2.08/litre (+2 sen)

The price of fuel in Malaysia is calculated based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM). According to the Ministry of Finance, the adjustments in fuel prices reflect the changes in the pricing of refined oil products in line with the current global crude oil prices.

The record low for fuel prices in Q4 2020 was the week of 7th November 2020. During that week, RON95 petrol was priced at RM1.61/litre while RON97 was priced at RM1.91/litre. Meanwhile Diesel was priced at RM1.68/litre and it’s RM1.78/litre for Euro 5.

With the current pricing, it appears that fuel prices in Malaysia are back to pre-MCO levels. On the week of 14th March 2020, RON95 was priced at RM1.82/litre, while RON97 was priced at RM2.10/litre. During that week, Diesel was priced at RM1.87/litre while Diesel Euro 5 was going for RM1.97/litre.
