COVID-19: Malaysia continues to record over 2,000 new cases today, 1,520 in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 2,062 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 97,389. There’s one new death reported and the death toll is now 439.

The Ministry of Health has reported 911 new recoveries and a total of 79,304 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 81.4% while the mortality rate remains at 0.5%.

There are currently 17,646 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 111 are in ICU while 51 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,062 new COVID-19 cases reported today, 4 are imported while 2,058 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,014 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 504 cases, Sabah with 252 cases and Johor with 167 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 8 new clusters today. This include 2 clusters in Selangor, namely Pasar Baru and Bukit Naga. In Kuala Lumpur there are 3 construction related clusters, namely Residen construction site, Kasih construction site and Sinar View construction site. There’s also the Paginatan cluster in Sabah, Tampoi Jaya cluster in Johor and Rapat cluster in Perak.

A total of 52 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The two newly identified clusters in the Klang Valley have recorded the most with 294 new cases from the Residen construction site cluster and 270 cases from the Pasar Baru cluster. This is followed by the Seruling cluster with 221 new cases.
