COVID-19: New cases jump to 1,683 today, Selangor records the most with 692 cases

Malaysia has recorded 1,683 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 90,816. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 432.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,214 new recoveries and a total of 75,244 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 82.9% while the mortality rate remains at 0.5%.

There are currently 15,140 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 106 are in ICU while 51 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,683 new COVID-19 cases reported today, 8 are imported while 1,675 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 692 cases, followed by Sabah with 260 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 197 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 174 cases, Melaka with 140 cases, Johor with 77 cases and Perak with 65 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 6 new clusters today. This include Lebuh construction site cluster in Selangor, Sugud cluster in Sabah, Jalan Tengah construction site in Kuala Lumpur, Persiaran Heights cluster in Negeri Sembilan, Tembok Gajah cluster in Johor and Utama Rini cluster in Johor.

A total of 60 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Jalan Harapan prison cluster reported the most with 235 cases, followed by Muda construction site with 74 cases and Tembok cluster with 55 cases.
