iOS 14.3 brings ProRAW for iPhone 12 Pro models, support for Apple Fitness+ and AirPods Max

Apple recently released the iOS 14.3 update just a month after the release of the iOS 14.2 which introduced new emojis, wallpapers and support for its MagSafe accessories. The latest update adds ProRAW format for select iPhone 12 models, support for Apple Fitness+ service and the new AirPods Max headphones.

Possibly, the most anticipated feature in iOS 14.3 has to be ProRAW. Apple first announced the feature during its October event and it basically brings the ability to shoot RAW photos natively to the iPhone. Previously, you would need to use third-party apps like Halide and Adobe Lightroom to shoot RAW on the iPhone.

For those unfamiliar, ProRAW is a new format that combines the editing flexibility of RAW with Apple’s computational photography tricks like Smart HDR and Deep Fusion for the first time. You can use ProRAW with all of the rear cameras on the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. It even works in night mode.

Images captured in ProRAW can be edited in the Photos app, so you don’t need to get any additional software to take advantage of the new image format. Users will have greater control in adjusting their image like being able to recover blown out highlights or brighten up the shadows in an underexposed image.

Apple Fitness+ was introduced during the company’s September Apple Watch and iPad event. Now the feature is available with the latest update. Just to recap, Apple Fitness+ is the company’s latest subscription service that offers a variety of guided workouts. The service features workouts in 10 different categories including High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), strength, yoga, dance, core, cycling, treadmill (for both running and walking) and rowing.

To use the service, users will need at an Apple Watch Series 3 or newer and run on the recently released watchOS 7.2 update. You can also use an iPad or Apple TV to view Fitness+ videos so long as the devices are updated to iPadOS 14.3 or tvOS 14.3, respectively.

Take note that Apple Fitness+ is not available in Malaysia. According to Apple it will be available in select countries including the US, Canada, UK Australia, Ireland and New Zealand.

Another notable feature added in iOS 14.3 is support for Apple’s first over-ear headphones, the AirPods Max. If you haven’t heard, the headphones were Apple’s big surprise ahead of the holiday season.

As the name implies, the Max is the largest member of the AirPods family and is said to offer high-fidelity audio. The AirPods Max are officially priced at RM2,399 in Malaysia, but they are not available at the moment.

iOS 14.3 is now available for download and it is compatible with iPhone 6s or newer. If you haven’t received any notification about the update, you can manually check for it by going into your Settings go to General and then over to Software Update to begin the process.

So, what do you think of the new features in iOS 14.3? Which are you most excited to start using? Let us know in the comments.
