COVID-19: 1,141 new cases, 50% reported in Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 1,141 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 70,236. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 376.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,144 new recoveries and a total of 59,061 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 84.1% while the mortality rate is 0.5%.

There are currently 10,799 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 129 patients are in ICU while 53 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,141 new COVID-19 cases today, 3 are imported while 1,138 are transmitted locally. Selangor and Sabah recorded the most with both having 320 new cases respectively, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 256 cases, Johor with 69 cases and Penang with 48 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 8 new cluster today. 3 are located in Kuala Lumpur which include Muda and Galeri construction site clusters as well as the Bukit Dalam cluster. There’s also the Cempaka cluster in Johor, Sungai Cincin cluster which covers Perak, Johor and Selangor, Huma cluster in Kelantan, Jalan Genting cluster which covers Bentong and Kuala Lumpur and Atabara cluster in Pahang.

A total of 49 active clusters have reported new cases today. The Bina Puteh Lama cluster reported the most with 159 cases, followed by the Teratai cluster with 62 cases and Damanlela construction site with 58 new cases.
