Huawei Mate 40 Pro expected to arrive in Malaysia just in time for Christmas

The Huawei Mate 40 series which was announced several months ago appears to be coming to Malaysia very soon. If this is the phone you’ve been waiting for, the new Mate series flagship is expected to arrive just in time for the Christmas holidays.

Huawei has sent out an electronic emailer entitled “Celebrate Christmas with the new Huawei Mate 40 Pro 5G” which indicates that it will go on sale in December 2020. The new flagship device is already listed on the official online store and it appears to come in a single variant.

According to the online store, the Mate 40 Pro comes only in Mystic Silver and it will come with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. As you would expect, this is 5G device and it runs on Huawei’s top-of-the-line 5nm Kirin 9000 chip.

In Europe, the Mate 40 Pro 5G with 256GB storage is listed at EUR 1,199 (about RM5,906). We expect it to be priced lower in Malaysia as European prices are usually priced significantly higher than our local market.

The Mate 40 Pro is probably the last Huawei flagship to come with a Kirin processor. It gets a 6.76″ OLED panel that pushes a resolution of 2772×1344 pixels and it has a high refresh rate of 90Hz.

The device gets a triple-camera setup featuring a 50MP main camera, a 20MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 12MP periscope telephoto camera that does 5x optical zoom and up to 50x max zoom in digital. For selfies, the top left corner has a 13MP front camera and a 3D ToF sensor.

The device also features IP68-rated dust and water resistance as well as a pair of stereo speakers. Keeping the lights on is a 4,400mAh battery that supports 66W fast wired charging as well as 50W fast wireless charging. Like most new Huawei device, it will ship without Google apps and services pre-installed.
