Report: Apple acknowledges display issues on iPhone 12, suggests OS update to fix

The iPhone 12 series is fresh off the block, and users in Malaysia are finally unboxing the latest and greatest (supposedly) iPhones now. Of course, we have the biggest iPhone yet (the 12 Pro Max), and despite only having a 60Hz refresh rate, Apple’s latest mobile displays have been lauded by some.

But there are a couple of issues with the display, according to several complaints on Apple’s forums. These include a green-ish tint when the brightness of the display is set to anything below 90 percent, along with flickering for certain users.

According to Macrumors, Apple has acknowledged the issue, and distributed a memo to its Authorised Service Providers accordingly. In the note, Apple says that it is investigating the issue, and that technicians shouldn’t service iPhones that are brought in with these issues.

Instead, affected customers are advised to keep their iPhone updated with the latest version iOS (currently iOS 14.2). This suggests that the issue is a software-based one, and that the display issues aren’t due to the display panel on the new iPhone 12 series.

This might be true. Last year, similar complaints popped up regarding the iPhone 11 Pro Max—which were resolved with OS updates.

Here, all iPhone 12 models are reportedly affected: the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Users have also reported issues on iOS 14.1 and 14.2—and even on the early iOS 14.3 beta releases.

In any case, if you have noticed anything similar on your new iPhone 12, be sure to send a bug report to Apple by clicking here. In any case, Apple hasn’t put out an official statement on the issue, and the information we’re referring to is based on a purportedly leaked document (which wasn’t actually shown in the original report).

For now, the best thing you can do is to sit tight, and wait for an OS update. If or when we receive any official word, we’ll be sure to update this article—so keep SoyaCincau.com bookmarked on your browser.
