COVID-19: 1,103 new cases today, KL continues to record more cases than Sabah

Malaysia has recorded 1,103 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 48,520. There are 4 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 313.

The Ministry of Health has reported 821 new recoveries and a total of 35,606 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 73.4% while the mortality rate is now 0.7%.

There are currently 12,601 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 102 are in ICU while 39 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,103 new COVID-19 cases today, 1 is imported while 1,102 are transmitted locally. Kuala Lumpur recorded the most with 392 cases, followed by Sabah with 288 cases, Selangor with 151 cases, Perak with 116 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 90 cases.

Malaysia has reported one new cluster today that’s identified as the Matambai cluster that covers Penampang and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah. A total of 36 active clusters have recorded new cases today.

The Damanlela construction site cluster which covers Kuala Lumpur and Selangor continues to record the most with 385 new cases, followed by the Tembok cluster which covers Kedah and Perak with 111 new cases and Hentian cluster which covers the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan with 83 new cases.

According to the Ministry of Health, Sabah has been recording a steady decline in new cases for 4 consecutive days. However, there’s a spike in Kuala Lumpur due to the Damanlela construction site cluster which currently has over 1,132 positive cases detected so far.
