DJI Mavic Mini 2 goes on sale at Best Buy ahead of launch, full specs revealed

The DJI Mavic Mini is the company’s entry-level drone, and it was launched around this time last year. The rumoured successor has seemingly been confirmed, after a YouTuber spotted the “DJI Mini 2” on the shelves of U.S. retailer Best Buy. Just like the DJI Pocket 2, it looks like DJI have decided to do away with the series name, and shorten the name of the DJI Mavic Mini 2.

The Mavic Mini is one of the company’s most popular models, with a weight of just below 250g meaning that it doesn’t require registration in many countries, or accreditation for pilots. Thanks to Our Beatific World, we now have an idea of the specs of the supposedly upcoming DJI Mini 2—and he even has an unboxing video for your viewing pleasure:

Among the highlights, the DJI Mini 2 supports 4K video shooting, although it misses out on DJI’s ActiveTrak feature which allows for the drone to follow a subject while filming. Meanwhile, the YouTube revealed that the lens offers an 83-degree field of view with the 35mm lens, while you should get 31 minutes of flight time.

Due to popular demand, the YouTuber then uploaded a second video to give the world a better look at the spec sheet on the back of the box:

You also get a better look at the new drone, and the accessories you get out of the box. At first glance, it doesn’t look like DJI has departed from the first Mavic Mini’s simple design, and it retains the identical weight as its predecessor: less than 249g.

DJI has yet to confirm any of the information as stated above, although it appears that the information above might just be accurate (based on the fact that it was actually sold in Best Buy). This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen products being “accidentally” launched ahead of launch, with Google’s new Chromecast also being sold by U.S. retailers a little too early.

For now, we’ll have to wait for an official announcement from DJI. In the meantime, you can check out Rory’s review of the DJI Mavic Mini—and why it “isn’t for beginners”.
