Lego revealed that the first ever Sesame Street set will be available soon—and it looks awesome. The set includes detailed parts of the famous ‘street’, and you can even turn it around like a dollhouse to reveal the rooms of the individual characters you know and love.
The creation of the 123 Sesame Street set came from Sesame Street fan and Lego enthusiast Ivan Guerrero, after he contributed the idea to the Lego Ideas collection. It lets fans submit their own brick creations with the chance to have their concept brought to life with the help of Lego master designers and a share of the profits.
“As a long-time fan of the Lego Group and Sesame Street, it has been a dream come true to be able to merge my two passions into a memorable set for fellow builders to enjoy. Lego bricks and Sesame Street shaped both my childhood and adult years, and the opportunity to work with the Lego Ideas team to bring this quintessential New York street to life has been thrilling,” said Guerrero.
The 123 Sesame Street set really does have the details we recognise from the children’s television show. It includes 5 characters—Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Oscar the Grouch.
The ‘street’ itself also has Hooper’s Store, Oscar the Grouch’s trash can home, and things like a fire hydrant, mail box, and lamp post. There’s also a part of the set that includes Big Bird’s home—with the tree and everything.
Even more impressive is what’s going on ‘inside’ 123 Sesame Street. The set also works like a dollhouse of sorts, which includes Bert and Ernie’s room (with a bathtub and rubber duckie!), Elmo’s place, the inside of Hooper’s, and Cookie Monster’s TV room.
“Knowing the impact Sesame Street has had on the world for decades, sharing similar values with generations past and present, this felt like an exciting way to blend novelty with nostalgia, and pay homage to the truly iconic 123 Sesame Street through Lego Ideas,” said Federico Begher, VP of Global Marketing at the Lego Group.
123 Sesame Street will be available on the 1st November on Lego.com. However, we don’t know yet if they’re planning to officially release it in Malaysia on the same day. The set has 1,367 pieces and costs USD 119.99 (RM497.54).
