Malaysia has recorded 710 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 24,514. There are 10 new deaths (8 in Sabah, 1 in Kedah and 1 in Labuan) reported today, which is a record high. The current death toll is now 214.
The Ministry of Health has reported 467 new recoveries and a total of 15,884 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 64.80% while the mortality rate is now 0.87%.
There are currently 8,416 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 90 are in ICU while 28 require respiratory support.
Out of the 710 new cases today, there’s one imported case while 709 are transmitted locally. Sabah continues to record the most cases at 528, followed by Selangor with 62 cases, Pulau Pinang with 39 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 37 cases (including 27 Tahfiz students in Senawang) and Labuan with 19 cases.
The Ministry has identified 3 new clusters today, namely Samudera cluster in Sandakan, Palma cluster which covers Gombak and Hulu Selangor, and Jaya cluster which covers Sepang and Seremban.
A total of 34 active clusters have reported new cases today. The Kepayan prison cluster in Sabah recorded the most with 140 cases, followed by Penang’s remand prison cluster with 39 new cases.
