It was around this time one year ago when Microsoft introduced a new device, the Surface Pro X. Now the Redmond Company has refreshed the Surface Pro X with a new Microsoft SQ2 chipset from Qualcomm, fancy platinum finish and improved battery life.
The new Surface Pro X is available from 13 October 2020 via commercial authorised resellers such as SoftwareONE and Prestariang Systems Sdn Bhd, as well as authorised retailers such as All IT, Gloo by SNS, Harvey Norman, Lazada-Microsoft flagship store, PC Image, Senheng, Shopee-Microsoft flagship store and TMT by Thundermatch.
Below is the official Malaysian price list for the Surface Pro X and its accessories.
It is worth pointing out that both the pen and keyboard are sold separately. This means you will need to factor in at least an additional RM670 to use it as a laptop.
We noted that the Surface Pro X’s accessories are more expensive compared to the model launched earlier this year. For example, the Surface Pro X Signature Keyboard with Slim Pen is RM91 more expensive.
On the outside, the Surface Pro X has not changed much at all. Its dimensions are the same, making it the most portable Surface Pro to date. It weighs just 774g measures 7.3mm thick.
The new Surface Pro comes with a 13″ edge-to-edge PixelSense display that outputs a resolution of 2880×1920 pixels in a 3:2 aspect ratio.
As mentioned earlier, it will be powered by a second generation Microsoft SQ 2 chipset. It is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR4X RAM and SSD storage up to 512GB. Microsoft stated the laptop can last up to 15 hours, an improvement of two hours over the previous generation.
Just like the previous version, you get Gigabit LTE connectivity with this model, allowing you to stay connected even when there is no WiFi connectivity available.
Also, it comes with two USB-C ports that can output in 4K. The convertible device does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack though it comes with a pair of stereo speakers with Dolby Audio sound.
In addition, you have a 10MP main camera and 5MP front camera that offer full HD video support and Windows Hello face authentication.
Microsoft is offering two variants: Surface for Consumers and Surface for Business. The latter provides specific experiences and features built for commercial customers including enterprise-grade security and Surface Enterprise Management Mode (SEMM).
Windows 10 Pro comes standard with Surface for Business devices while the Surface for Consumer version is offered with Windows 10 Home.
