Do note that specs and configurations may differ for the Malaysian release. The following details pertain to the global release of the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon.
Despite the ongoing clamour for the (generally) more affordable Ryzen 4000 series AMD chips, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is powered by 11th Generation Intel Core processors (up to Intel Core i7-1165G7. This is mated to up to 16GB of Dual Channel LPDR4X RAM, and 1TB of PCIe M.2 SSD storage, while you get integrated Intel Iris X for graphics.
There isn’t a touch screen option available here, although the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon features a 13″ ultra-wide angle display which pushes a QHD resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. 100% of the sRGB colour gamut is supported, while Dolby Vision and TUV Rheinland Eye Comfort certifications make this a premium display. Plus, you should be getting a near-all-screen experience here, with a 91 percent screen-to-body at 16:10.
Battery life is one of the major strengths here, with Lenovo promising up to 15 hours of 1080p video playback and 13 hours of office productivity. Lenovo’s Rapid Charge Boost fast-charging technology is supported, which means 15 minutes of charging should provide enough juice for two hours of use.
The company has also been generous with ports on the latest Yoga laptop. You’re looking at two USB-C ports that support Thunderbolt 4, PD 3.0, DisplayPort 1.4 ,and USB 4. There’s also an additional USB-C port, although this one only supports USB 3.2 Gen 2. Finally, the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack equipped—laptop manufacturers have been slow to follow the mobile jack-less trend, which is good news as far as I’m concerned.
As mentioned earlier, this is certainly a lightweight laptop, weighing in at just 966g. Despite that, Lenovo talks up the durability of the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon, meeting nine MIL-STD-810G standards. Consequently, you can expect the laptop to withstand minor scrapes as part of daily wear and tear.
In fact, the cover of the laptop is constructed from multiple layers of carbon fibre, with Lenovo’s 2nd gen Web-Core 2.0 Carbon Fibre helping to reduce weight by up to 40 percent while increasing durability by 25 percent (compared to previous gen). The manufacturing process is similar to that of supercars, according to Lenovo, and overall, this is Lenovo’s lightest carbon fibre material yet.
The rest of the specs are pretty much in line with what you’d expect from a premium mobile laptop in 2020. That includes WiFi 6 support, Glance by Mirametrix certification, support for Cortana and Alexa voice assistants, along with Lenovo’s Vantage application and Thermal System 4.0. One final tidbit that you might enjoy: the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon’s hinge goes all the way to 180 degrees, which means that you can lie the laptop display flat on a surface.
