Malaysia has recorded 101 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 11,135. There are no new deaths today and the death toll remains at 134.
The Ministry of Health has reported 50 new recoveries and a total of 9,939 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is 89.26% while the mortality rate is at 1.20%.
There are currently 1,062 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 13 patients are in ICU while 5 require respiratory support.
Out of the 101 new COVID-19 cases today, 4 are imported while 97 are transmitted locally. The imported cases consist of a Malaysian returning from Saudi Arabia, 2 foreigners arriving from Myanmar and 1 foreigner arriving from Nigeria.
Malaysia has identified 4 new clusters, namely Jalan Bomba and Jalan Utara clusters in Sandakan, Benteng PK in Selangor and Bakawali in Johor. Sabah records the most local cases with 73, followed by Selangor with 14 cases. There are 2 new cases in Johor and 1 case each in Pulau Pinang, Johor, Kelantan, Perak, Melaka, Perlis, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
According to the Ministry, there are 17 new local cases that have a recent travel history to Sabah. The Bangau-bangau cluster has 51 new cases while the Benteng and Kuarters clusters records 2 new cases each. The recently identified Jalan Apas cluster in Selangor has 1 new case reported today.
