Malaysia has recorded 24 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 9,583. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 128.
The Ministry of Health has reported 7 new recoveries and a total of 9,143 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 95.41% while the mortality rate is at 1.34%.
There are currently 312 active cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 7 patients are in ICU while 4 require respiratory support.
Out of the 24 cases today, 6 are imported while 18 are transmitted locally. The imported cases consists of 3 Malaysians returning from Indonesia, South Korea and Singapore respectively. There are also 2 foreigners arriving from Bangladesh and 1 from China.
In terms of local cases, 16 are reported in Kedah and there are 2 cases in Sabah from the Benteng cluster. According to the Ministry of Health, the Sungai cluster in Kedah has recorded 13 new cases. The remaining 3 cases in Kedah consist of 1 case from Tawar cluster, 1 from Telaga cluster and 1 case through medical staff screening.
As of 12pm today, Sabah has two red zones with Lahad Datu having 87 cases and Tawau with 42 cases. All 3 federal territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan) and 6 states (Kelantan, Terengganu, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Perlis) are fully green.
