Two of Ducati’s latest Scramblers are folding, electric bicycles

While Ducati is a name that is normally associated with high-end, fast motorcycles, the Italian company has recently made a concerted push towards the electric bicycle path. The e-Scrambler—an eBike that looks nothing like a typical Scrambler—was recently launched, and now, Ducati has announced the release of three new, foldable eBikes.

The Ducati Urban-E, as well as the Scrambler SCR-E and Scrambler SCR-E Sport have been designed for use “around the city” and beyond, with the trio now making up Ducati’s foldable eBike range. At the moment, pricing details haven’t been officially made available yet—although we do have some notable information for prospective buyers here.

Sound good? Here’s what we know so far.

Ducati Urban-E

The only non-Scrambler-branded model here, the Ducati Urban-E looks the least sporty of the three, perhaps due to its “urban” branding. Still, the eBike should still turn heads at traffic lights, with the designers from the Centro Stile Ducati working on a “special” aluminium frame with an easy-folding locking system.

Interestingly, riders will be able to control the level of electric assist via an LCD display that sits in the stem—you’ll also be able to check the remaining battery charge, and to turn the built-in LED lights on/off. There’s a 378Wh battery that’s built into the curved portion of the frame, which the Italian company says is reminiscent of the “typical” Ducati look.

As something that’s designed to be a daily commuter, the Urban-E also features a suspension fork and large anti-puncture 20″ x 4″ tyres to offer riders comfort—even on “the most irregular of surfaces”.

Ducati Scrambler SCR-E

Next up, we have the SCR-E. You get similarly fat wheels as the Urban-E, along with a similarly-sized 374.4Wh battery. Ducati says that you’ll be able to travel for a distance of up to 70km on a single charge—a figure that would probably be dwarfed by the recently-announced e-Scrambler.

Again, you get an aluminium frame and easy-folding technology, while there is also an LCD display which features a “twilight sensor” to automatically turn the lights on/off.

Ducati Scrambler SCR-E Sport

Lastly, we have the dual-suspension Ducati Scrambler SCR-E Sport. As per its “sport” moniker, the SCR E-Sport comes with double shock absorbers, along with single wall alloy wheels and road tyres. Additionally, the 468Wh battery that’s integrated into the eBike frame will also offer a higher range: up to 80km per charge.

Unfortunately, that’s the extent of the information that is currently available, although we’ll be sure to update this article if/when we receive word. Ducati says that the SCR-E and SCR-E Sport is available in select markets now, although the Urban-E will be only be available sometime in October 2020.
