COVID-19: New cases drop to 9 today, all 5 local cases reported in Sarawak

Malaysia has reported 9 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 8,764. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 122.

The Ministry of Health has recorded 5 new recoveries and a total of 8,546 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 97.51% while the mortality rate is at 1.39%.

There are currently 96 active cases remaining that are currently isolated and receiving treatment. There’s only 1 case in ICU and there are no cases that require respiratory support.

Out of the 9 cases reported today, 4 are imported while 5 are transmitted locally. The imported cases are individuals returning from Indonesia, Singapore and Pakistan.

Among the 5 local cases, there are 4 Malaysians and one foreigner, all reported in Sarawak. This consists of 1 case at the Mambong cluster, 1 case detected at Bau Hospital and 2 cases at the Pasar Stutong market screening. There’s also one Chinese national that was detected before departing for overseas travel.

With the 2 imported cases included, Sarawak has a total of 7 cases today. The other 2 imported cases are currently located in Kelantan and Selangor.
