Galaxy Buds Live: This could be Samsung’s answer to the AirPods Pro

Samsung will be introducing more than just the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. Apart from a Galaxy Z Flip 5G edition, the Korean smartphone maker is also going to introduce its new wireless earbuds that are expected to be called the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. We now get a clear view of the new wireless earbuds thanks to serial leakster @EvLeaks.

As shared on his Patreon account, the Galaxy Buds Live will come in 3 colours. This includes the copper-ish Mystic Bronze which matches the new hero colour of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Unlike the current Galaxy Buds and Buds+, the new earphones come in a kidney bean shape which looks rather compact. The downside is that it might not provide a good seal like the current in-ear type design that’s offered on the current Galaxy Buds.

There are no hardware specs or battery life details at the moment but if you look at the earpiece, it does come with two visible microphones on each side. This could be used for noise cancellation at least for voice calls.

The case itself comes in a square clam-shell form factor and we reckon that it will also support wireless charging like the current buds. Each earpiece uses connector pins to charge in the case and it comes with LED indicators on the inside and outside which is similar to the Buds+.

The Galaxy Buds Live design matches the earlier leaked renders that were published by Roland Quandt back in April. Back then, the commercial product name wasn’t revealed yet but it was often referred to Beans as its internal codename.

After Apple had introduced the AirPods Pro with active noise cancelling in October last year, Samsung had introduced the Galaxy Buds+ to go with the Galaxy S20 series. Instead of adding active noise-cancellation, Samsung had focused on improving the audio quality and battery life while maintaining the same form factor as the previous Galaxy Buds.

The new Galaxy Buds+ is currently priced at RM599 and it is likely that the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Live could be priced significantly higher if it does come with active noise cancellation. As a comparison, the AirPods Pro are still retailing for RM1,099 but these days you could probably get it under RM900 during online sales.
