COVID-19: New cases drop to 5 today, no new deaths in Malaysia for 3 weeks

The Ministry of Health has reported 5 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 8,663. There are no new deaths recorded for 21 straight days and the death toll remains unchanged at 121.

There are 4 new recoveries today and a total of 8,465 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The current recovery rate is 97.71% while the mortality rate is 1.4%.

At the moment, there are 77 active cases remaining which are still receiving treatment. 2 cases are currently in ICU and both require respiratory support.

Out of the 5 new positive cases reported today, there are 3 imported cases that consist of 2 Malaysians returning from Saudi Arabia and UAE respectively, and 1 non-Malaysian returning from Pakistan. Meanwhile, there are 2 local cases with one each in Negeri Sembilan and Sabah. Both cases are Malaysians and were detected during pre-surgery screening.

The Ministry of Health has also declared the end of Cheras apartment and Gombak clusters. At the moment, a total of 804,518 individuals have been tested for COVID-19 and the positive rate is 1.08%.
