Deal: Trade in any old watch to get a RM300 rebate on a Garmin Forerunner smartwatch

As part of their campaign to educate the public on the health benefits of smart wearables and monitoring technology, Garmin Malaysia has announced a trade-in promotion for the Garmin Forerunner series. In the range, you have the Garmin Forerunner 45, the Forerunner 245, Forerunner 245 Music, and Forerunner 945—all of which are eligible for rebates between the 5th of June till the 30th of June 2020.

Any wrist watch (non-smartwatches, too) from any brand is acceptable for trade in, although Garmin says that the term “wrist watch” does not extend to clocks or other non-wrist timepieces. Only one trade-in is allowed per customer, and if you are trading in a smartwatch, bring along the charger as well.

In the range, rebates of RM200 are available for the entry-level Forerunner 45, RM251 for the Forerunner 245, RM300 for the Forerunner 245 Music, RM300 for the Forerunner 245 Music Japan Edition, and RM300 for the Forerunner 945. For some perspective, the flagship Forerunner 945 retails for RM2,999, while the base model Forerunner 45 is officially priced at RM999.

All of the watches that are traded in during this period will be donated to Malaysian NGO Shelter Home for Children, with Ivan Ong, Senior Manager of Aeco Technologies explaining the need to prioritise health during the current COVID-19 situation:

“We hope to encourage more Malaysians to adopt an active lifestyle using smart wearable sespecially post Covid-19 where health has become a priority and needs to be taken seriously by all. Ourtrade- in promotion allows anyone to trade in any of their watches for our Forerunner series with the proceeds going to the Shelter Home for Children. We hope the children will benefit from the proceeds to help them in their day-to-day lives especially in these trying times.”

All of the devices in the Forerunner series above support Body Battery, amongst other advanced health monitoring technologies from Garmin. However, Garmin notes that these are not medical devices, and are not intended for actual diagnosis. As such, you should always see a medical professional if you have any health concerns.

To trade your wrist watch in for the Garmin rebate, you can do so at all Garmin outlets and authorised dealers. The full list is as follows:
