Sony’s much anticipated ZV-1 vlogging camera finally is now available for pre-order in Malaysia from RM3,399. The pre-order promotion, which runs from 2 June to 30 June, throws in a free 64GB SD memory card and an additional NP-BX1 battery for their camera.
Those who are looking to step up their vlogging game may be tempted to top up another RM199 to RM3,598 to add on the VCT-SGR1 shooting grip. This is quite a steal considering that the regular price of the VCT-SGR1 is RM399.
Those interested in pre-order the ZV-1 can go make their orders on Sony’s website or Lazada.
The ZV-1 seems to be primarily targeted at casual smartphone photographers who are looking for a better camera to capture their everyday life. On the outside, the ZV-1 could easily be mistaken for Sony’s other popular point-and-shoot camera, the RX100 series. While the RX100 series is aimed towards enthusiasts photographers, the ZV-1 is designed specifically for users who want to get in front of the camera.
The highlight feature of the ZV-1 is its fully articulating LCD touchscreen instead of the flip-out display found on the RX100 cameras. The new screen opens a great deal of flexibility for precise framing and fluid operation even while the user is in front of the camera. The camera even has a red recording lamp in front making it easy to know when you are recording.
Sony understands that audio is an integral element in vlogging so it has included a directional 3-capsule microphone that allows it better capture audio in front of the camera. You can even attach a wind screen or dead cat on top of the microphone to cut out wind noise. In addition, the ZV-1 has a hotshoe mount on top to attach their favourite external microphones for greater audio clarity.
But apart from that, the ZV-1 offers other benefits like Sony’s Fast Hybrid Auto Focus system. Users would also be able to easily share their photos and videos to social media via the Image Edge Mobile app their iOS and Android smartphone.
By the numbers, the camera features a 1″ 20.1MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor and it’s capable of shooting 20MP stills as well as 4K video up to 30fps. It’ll also do 1080p up to 120fps with additional slow motion high framerate options of up to 960fps. Additionally, the ZV-1 lens offers an equivalent 24-70mm focal length with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 – f/2.8.
