After announcing free data upgrades for its postpaid plans, Maxis appears to be introducing its new Hotlink prepaid plans that come with unlimited data and voice calls. This seems to be a direct competitor for U Mobile’s GX38 and GX30 plans that offer unlimited data with capped speeds.

The new Hotlink plans were leaked on the Huawei B618 Owner Facebook group and it comes in two monthly plans as well as a weekly and daily option. The first plan offers unlimited data capped at 3Mbps with unlimited calls for RM35/month. If you want faster speeds, there’s also an unlimited data option capped at 6Mbps with unlimited calls for RM45/month.

For short term subscription, the weekly plan costs RM12 for 7 days while the daily plan costs RM3/day. Both also come with unlimited calls and they are speed capped at 3Mbps.

If you need full uncapped speeds, there are high-speed passes available that start from RM1 for 1 hour of unlimited usage. There’s also 3GB high-speed pass for RM3/day and 5GB for RM10/week. Although the plans come with unlimited calls, the flyer still lists its voice call rate of 15 sen for 30 seconds, while SMS costs 15 sen each.

As an added bonus the new Hotlink unlimited plan offers free Viu subscription for monthly pass users. In addition, they are also offering a 10% discount for app purchases via the Google PlayStore and Apple AppStore.

As a comparison, U Mobile GX30 at RM30/month offers unlimited data at 3Mbps while its the higher GX38 (which is offered for RM35/month) provides higher unlimited data speeds at 6Mbps. Both plans do not come with voice calls but it has 3GB of hotspot data included.

For the new Hotlink plan, there’s no mention if hotspot data is included. If it isn’t, it could be offered as an optional hotspot pass that you’ll have to purchase separately. According to Lowyat.net’s tipster, the new plans are expected to launch tomorrow.
