COVID-19: New cases in Malaysia jump to 93 today, 91 are foreigners

Malaysia has recorded 93 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 7,970. This is a significant jump from yesterday which had 20 new cases reported. Fortunately, there are no new deaths recorded and the death toll has remained at 115 for 12 consecutive days.

There are 61 new recoveries and a total of 6,531 patients have recovered and discharged. The recover rate is currently 81.94% while the mortality rate is 1.44%.

At the moment, there are 1,324 active cases remaining that are still receiving treatment. 6 patients are in ICU while 2 require respiratory support.

There are no new imported cases today. All 93 cases are transmitted locally and it involves 2 Malaysians and 91 foreigners. The 2 cases involving Malaysian citizens are reported in Selangor. For cases involving non-Malaysians, there are 36 cases in Negeri Sembilan and 55 cases in Kuala Lumpur.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 55 new cases reported at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot and 36 new cases reported at the Pedas cluster in Negeri Sembilan.
